Our next #GuildChat takes place Friday, March 15th at 11am PT / 2pm ET. Our topic for this week’s chat is on What to Make of Emerging Ideas and Technologies.
Disrupting, transforming, emerging are words that often precede ideas and technologies in learning and development (as well as a host of other industries). They are exciting and definitely grab our attention but are they valid? How can you tell that what is next is worth your time, a deeper look or even committing yourself to building skills in preparation for its arrival.
Join us this week as the community collectively looks at what might be coming, what’s not and how to evaluate to better prepare yourself and your organization.
Thanks to Mike Simmons once again for this great topic!
Q1 What’s an emerging technology or approach you’re currently excited by? What makes it so interesting for you?
Q2 Which cool, innovative ideas/technologies of today did you see coming and which didn’t you?
Q3 How do you evaluate the value or potential of a new idea/or new tech upon first pass? What’s your sniff test?
Q4 We can’t try out everything. What do you find attracts you to decide to try out a new tech or approach?
Q5 Being a healthy skeptic regarding new ideas/tech is important but how do you prevent yourself from becoming cynical?
Q6 Adopting new ideas/tech doesn’t mean you have to throw out what’s already working. How have you seen the new blend well with the tried and true in L&D?
Q7 Sometimes leaders/clients get caught up in the newest, shiniest tech or approach and think it’s the solution for everything. How can you help them see it for what it really is without seeming like a buzzkill?
Q8 Who or what do you turn to to guide your efforts to evaluate new things?
