Curation is nothing new, museums and the like have been curating with curators for centuries. Content Curation however is relatively new and was drawn into the L&D industry by our ever favorite muse, the Marketing department. The idea is simple, there is a lot of information/content online that informs our work. Which is best? How do we sort it? Make sense of it? Know who needs it and get it to those people?
Clay Shirkey explained to us all the issue of filter failure and we all agreed, we can do better to find the diamonds in the rough for ourselves and our organization. But how prevalent is the activity today? Do companies have learning curators? Are we doing well in this space for ourselves? If the answer is no, what’s holding us up? The information is growing exponentially, the answer is out there, should we keep on creating more or work on curating more?
