As learning professionals we strive to support all learning needs in an organization and although greater effort is often spent on helping employees learn something for the first time or when a change takes place (see Gottfredson’s 5 Moments of Need), employees themselves move through different phases of expertise from novice to practitioner and experts. At each level employees need varying degrees of support and different approaches to training. How do we help them best where they are and where they will be?
